Introduction from the sailing captain neil

Prestwick Sailing Club has two main activities - Training and Racing.

Racing is open to all club members and is the ideal way to hone your sailing skills even if you have no ambition to be the next Ben Ainslie or Shirley Robertson.

However if you, young or old, do have these ambitions, dinghy racing is one of te few sports where it is possible for anyone to compete against olympic gold medallists, and with a little effort and practice, local, national and international competition is within anyone's grasp.

If you are new to racing please do not hesitate to ask advice around the club. We plan to hold regular race and coaching evenings throughout 2009. These will be valuable sessions for both novices and seasonal racers as the coaching will be done by extremely experienced sailors who have demonstrated their racing credentials at the highest levels.

The reason that Prestwick Sailing Club continues to develop club racing are

Racing development at Junior, youth and senior levels - this is measured by success and representation by success at National and International level.

Tuesday night informal sailing and coaching

In 2009 we plan to have informal sailing/ coaching nights every Tuesday from April to July and these are ideal opportunities for everyone to do a bit of practice. It is also a chance to swap boats, or get advice from keen racers.

Don't hesitate to ask the more experienced members of the club for help, and even meet up on Tuesday for a bit of 1 on 1 assistance and coaching
